Oncometopia Stål, 1869
This genus contains around 50 species of large leafhoppers (10-15 mm) that are found in tropical and subtropical parts of America. The adults often have a bluish colouration on the wings and part of the pronotum. Compared to other leafhoppers the head is often rather broad in side view.
Some species are important as vectors of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. For example, Oncometopia facialis is an important vector of citrus variegated chlorosis in South America.
