Olive leaf yellowing-associated virus (OLYaV)
This virus infects olives in the Mediterranean region and in North America. While it has been often found at a high incidence in olive groves, it appears to occur mainly as latent infections and associated symptoms like leaf yellowing have been rarely described. For example, OLYaV has been found in more than 50% of the trees in southern Italy and in 93% of the trees in California (Al Rwahnih et al., 2011). Comparisons of olive oil derived from infected and from uninfected olive trees, have not found any significant differences in yield and quality (Fontana et al., 2019).
