Nepovirus nigranuli

Assigned virus:
tomato black ring virus (TBRV)

This tomato black ring virus is widely distributed and infects various crops including vegetables, fruit trees, berry crops and ornamentals. The symptoms depend on the host plant and cultivar. They include necrosis and leaf malformation, but infections can also remain symptomless. TBRV is mainly transmitted through nematodes, but can be also transmitted through seeds and pollen.

The genome consists of 2 single-stranded RNA molecules. RNA1 encodes the RNA polymerase and the proteinase, RNA2 the coat and movement proteins.
