Nepovirus cynarae
Assigned virus:
• artichoke yellow ringspot virus (AYRSV)
The artichoke yellow ringspot virus is a member of subgroup C of the genus Nepovirus and is found in southern Europe. It infects artichoke, causing bright yellow leaf blotches, ringspots and line patterns. However it also infects a variety of other crops and plants like broad beans, French beans, cucumber and tobacco. A vector for the virus is not known, but seed transmission has been demonstrated in tobacco.
See Gallitelli et al. (2004) for a brief summary.
