Seleção na Evolução de Resistência a Organofosforados em Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)
[Selection in the evolution of resistance to organophosphates in Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)]

Abstract: Pesticide resistance is an increasingly worldwide phenomenon and a serious agriculture concern. From these perspectives, understanding of pesticide resistance is necessary to devise resistance management strategies to slow its development. Insecticide use and migration of resistant individuals can influence resistance evolution. The selection and dispersion of insecticide resistance were studied on the ten populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Guerin-Mèneville) collected from different coffee producing regions of the State of Minas Gerais that were grouped together. Based on canonical variate analysis, a similar resistance pattern was observed in the populations from the "Zona da Mata Mineira" region. The increase of the frequency of resistant individuals was correlated with a larger number of organophosphate applications and likely dispersion of resistant individuals. Considerations on pattern of the resistance in coffee leafminer and implications for management are discussed.
