Musca Linnaeus, 1758
The species of this genus are about 5 to 7 mm long and greyish. They have a proboscis which can be extended and absorbe or suck up semi-liquid food. The tarsi have "sticky" hairs. Eggs are laid in decaying organic matter and there are 3 larval stages as well as a hard-shelled pupal stage. The development from eggs to adult lasts around 1 to 3 weeks.
