Murgantia histrionica (Hahn) - (harlequin bug)
This plant-sucking bug is a pest of Brassica crops and other crucifers in eastern and southern North America. Damage by the nymphs and adults results in white blotches on the leaves and at high densities in serious crop damage. Vegetables can become unmarketable and plants or whole fields may be killed.
Planting a trap crop can be an effective management method. Pheromone traps have been also developed for monitoring and for combinations with a toxicant in an attract-and-kill approach.
