Misotermes mindeni (parasitoid) Disney & Neoh, 2009
This fly is a parasitoid of the mound-building termite Macrotermes gilvus in south-eastern Asia. Parasitation rates may reach 10% of the colonies. Only major soldiers are parasitised and the fly larva develops in the head of the soldier, moving to the abdomen when it is about to pupate. The parasitised soldiers do not die earlier than unparasitised ones and are in fact fed more often by workers.
