Metschnikowia pulcherrima (antagonist) Pitt & M.W. Mill. 1968

This yeast is widely distributed and has been mainly isolated from fruits and flowers. It is a strong antagonist against various fungi and has been shown to be an effective biological control agent against storage moulds of fruits like Botrytis species. Mass production techniques have been developed (Spadaro et al., 2010).
