Metaphycus lounsburyi (parasitoid) (Howard, 1898) - (black olive scale parasitoid)
This wasp is native to South Africa and a gregarious endoparasitoid of scale insects from the genus Saissetia. In contrast to other species of Metaphycus, M. lounsburyi appears to be rather host specific. It has been released in several countries against the black scale, Saissetia oleae, where it goes through 3-4 generations for each scale generation.
