Mesocyclops aspericornis (predator) (Daday, 1906)

This copepod is widely distributed and a predator of Culicidae larvae. Compared to other species of Mesocyclops, it has a high reproduction capacity (Phong et al., 2008). During field releases in crab holes in French Polynesia, it was able to control Aedes polynesiensis larvae. However, it could only persist in the environment when the crab burrows remained wet, and it has a very limited ability to disperse, especially to other islands (Lardeux et al., 1992).
