Maracuja mosaic virus - (MarMV)
This virus has been found in South America, infecting passion fruit plants, causing mosaic and crinkle. In Brazil, passion fruits are called 'maracujá'. The virus has been also reported from Florida, but the isolate was later determined to belong to a closely related, but separate virus species (Song & Ryu, 2011). MarMV has a genome of 6794 nucleotides with four open reading frames (Song et al., 2006). Like other Tobamoviruses, MarMV can be transmitted mechanically.
