Mahanarva posticata (Stål, 1855) - (sugarcane spittlebug)

This spittlebug is a pest of sugarcane in South America. The nymphs feed on the roots and the adults on the leaves and stems. The toxins in the saliva cause infested plants to yellow and wilt.
