Lyonetiidae - (lyonet moths)
This family contains around 200 species of very small moths with long antennae. The caterpillars are leaf miners, making wavy mines. When mature, they leave the leaves and construct a web for pupation. Several species are regarded as agricultural pests like the invasive white coffee leaf miner, Perileucoptera coffeella.
The adults of most species have a wingspan of less than 1 cm. They often have shiny whitish or grayish forewings with black marks in the apical quarter. The hindwings are narrow and fringed. The antennae can reach the length of the body.
