Lutzomyia walkeri (Newstead 1914)
This sandfly is found in tropical (northern) parts of South America. It has been recorded from forested areas as well as around houses and can be one of the more abundant species in some locations. It is a suspected vector of Leishmania disease agents. For example, it has been found to carry Leishmania amazonensis (Machado et al., 2017).
