Lutzomyia firmatoi (Barretto, Martins & Pellegrino 1956)
This sand fly has been reported from northern Argentina and southern parts of Brazil, where it can be common in some areas. It is anthropophilic, biting both during the day and during the night. It is a suspected vector of leishmaniasis, and can transmit Leishmania braziliensis experimentally (Diniz et al., 2014).
