Lutzomyia evansi Nuòez-Tovar, 1924
The sand fly is found in Central and northern South America. For example, it is common at the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It is a vector of visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis, caused by Leishmania infantum chagasi and Leishmania braziliensis. During a survey in Honduras, it has been found to feed mainly on pigs, dogs and chicken (Mejía et al., 2018).
