A contribution to knowledge of the development of the egg of Locusta migratoria migratorioides (R. and F.)
Locusta 6, 73-88
Abstract: 1. Various experiments have been carried out on the eggs of Locusta migratoria migratorioides incubated at 27 ±1°C.
2. The morphological stages of Locusta migratoria migratorioides embryos have been described mainly according to the external morphological changes, and also by reference to the position of the embryo in the egg and the degree of pigmentation.
3. The variation that occurs in the embryonic stage in eggs of the same age has been studied and analysed, and the mean rate of development plotted on a graph.
4. The fresh and dry weights of the eggs were investigated and statistically analysed.
5. The differences in the development and differentiation of the embryos of various types of Acridid eggs have been discussed.
