Lathrolestes Förster, 1869

The members of the genus Lathrolestes are koinobiont endoparasitoids, mainly of leaf-mining sawfly larvae. Several are recognized as natural enemies of pest sawflies. For example, Lathrolestes ensator is a parasitoid of the apple sawfly and has been introduced into North America.

The genus contains around 100 species and is widely distributed. Most species are found in the Palearctic region and in the Americas. The genus is characterized by the carina on the head and the wing venation.
