Lathrolestes ensator (parasitoid) (Brauns, 1898)

This species is a solitary larval endoparasitoid of the apple sawfly (Hoplocampa testudinea). It is native to Europe and has been successfully introduced into Canada between 1994 and 2001 as part of a classical biological control program, see Vincent et al., 2016. It is the only known natural enemy of the apple sawfly in North America.
