First captures of the migratory locust, Locusta migratoria L., at light-traps and their ecological significance
Journal of the Australian Entomological Society 16 (1), 59-61
Abstract: Records of Locusta migratoria from specially designed light traps have provided the first demonstration of systematic catches of the tropical race of this species in light traps. Variations in the catches between 1973 and 1976 have been related to population changes in the field, and suggest that population displacement at night can be monitored in relation to synoptic weather by means of a network of such traps. A comparison is made in table form between the catches of L. migratoria with those of Chortoicetes terminifera and Austracris guttulosa, made at Trangie, New South Wales, Australia, during 1972-1976, and reflects changes in the plague status of these three species.
