Internal bacterial rot of onion bulbs caused by Burkholderia cepacia in China
Journal of Plant Pathology 89 (2), 304-304
Abstract: Onion bulbs with symptoms of internal rot were observed in autumn 2005 in Zhejiang Province, China causing substantial economic losses. Six bacterial strains isolated from infected bulbs showed characteristics similar to those of the standard reference strains of Burkholderia cepacia. Genetic analysis confirmed the identification for all isolates. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
