Presence of tibial spurs as a male sexual character for Galerucella calmariensis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
Journal of Entomological Science 39 (2), 281-283
Abstract: For studies on the biology of Galerucella calmariensis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), an introduced biocontrol agent of purple loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria, it is necessary to distinguish the sexes of the beetle correctly. The presence of a male-specific tibial spur is described and compared with other distinguishing characters.
