Ixodes muris (Bishopp & Smith) - (mouse tick)

This tick is found in North America. It usually attacks mice, voles and birds, but is also known to bite domestic animals and occasionally humans. The bites are associated with extreme pain and swelling. This species can acquire and transmit the Lyme disease agent.
