Effects of soil moisture and temperature on hatchling weight and survival in Locusta migratoria migratorioides (Reiche and Fairmarie)
Insect Science and its Application 9 (5), 625-628
Abstract: The influence of soil moisture and temperature on hatchling weight during the solitary phase of Locusta migratoria migratorioides was studied in the laboratory. Soil moisture was found to be an important weight determining factor; heavier hatchlings were produced in relatively wetter soils. Temperature had no apparent influence on hatchling weight. Hatchling weight and hatchling survival to the 2nd instar showed a positive significant correlation.
