Hypera Germar 1817

This genus is widely distributed and contains more than 100 species of weevils. Several of them are pests of leguminous crops like lucerne, Vicia or clover. The most important species is the alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica which has been accidentally introduced from Europe to North America and to Japan.
