Hyalomma rufipes Koch, 1844

This tick is widely distributed in Africa and the Mediterranean region. It may be introduced into more northern European countries by migrating birds. The tick attacks livestock like cattle and horses and may also bite humans. It is considered a vector of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF).
