Holotrichia parallela (Motschulsky, 1854)
This polyphagous chafer is found in eastern Asia. It attacks a variety of crops like groundnuts with the larval stages (white groubs) feeding on the roots and pods. Other crops like sweet potatoes are also attacked. Annual yield losses are often between 10 and 20%, but can reach 50% during outbreaks. The adults feed on the leaves but cause less damage.
