Heterorhabditis indica Poinar et al., 1992 - nematode
Photorhabdus luminescens spp. akhurstii - symbiotic bacterium

This nematode is widely distributed and a common entomopathogenic nematode in the soil. It has been shown to be effective against various pest insects, mainly from the orders of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera. It is especially suitable against soil living species like the citrus root weevil, Diaprepes abbreviatus (e.g. Lacey and Shapiro-Ilan, 2008). However, it appears to be also possible to apply the nematode as a spray on above-ground plants against leaf-feeding insects (e.g. Garcia et al., 2008).
