Heterodera sacchari Luc & Merny, 1963 - (sugarcane cyst nematode)
The nematode attacks sugarcane and rice in Africa, Asia and Central America and is specially damaging to rice where symptoms include necrotic roots, stunted growth and possible plant death. Yield losses in rice can exceed 50%.
