Heterodera carotae Jones, 1950 - (carrot root nematode)

This nematode is widely distributed in temperate regions and has a narrow host range, attacking only carrots and related species. Heavy infestations, usually found in patches in the field, cause stunting as well as small and deformed tubers. Yield losses may reach 50%. Planting other crops for 3-4 years is effective due the narrow host range.
