Heterodera betae Wouts, Rumpenhorst & Sturhan, 2001 - (yellow beet cyst nematode)
This cyst nematode in found in Europe and infests sugar beet. It is economically less important compared to the true sugarbeet cyst nematode (Heterodera schachtii) which also occurs in Europe. Both species differ in several morphological and biological aspects. H. betae has a yellow phase (absent in H. schachtii) which infests cruciferous plants. Further, H. betae reproduces parthenogenetically and males are absent.
