Heterarthrus Stephens, 1835

This genus of leaf-mining sawflies contains around 15 species which are mainly found in Europe and Asia. Heterarthrus nemoratus has been accidentally introduced into North America (first record in Canada in 1905). It has initially caused serious outbreaks, but was apparently brought under control by the introduction of several parasitoids. The mines of Heterarthrus species are usually located at the edges of the leaves.
