Hemiberlesia pitysophila Takagi, 1969 - (pine armoured scale)
This armoured scale is found in parts of eastern Asia and was first recorded from southern China in 1982. There, it caused serious outbreaks on pine trees, especially Pinus massoniana with infestations resulting in needle drop and tree death within 3-5 years.
