Hellula phidilealis (Walker, 1859)

This moth is found in tropical and subtropical parts of the Americas. It breeds on cabbage and other cruciferous plants. The larvae tunnel into the centre and stems of the plants. They may destroy the growing point. The damage can be serious on some Caribbean islands. One generation lasts on average around 1 month.

The adult moth has a wingspan of about 15 mm. The forewings are brownish mottled with lighter patches and line, as well with a crescent-shaped darker spot in the apical third.
