Heliothis Ochsenheimer, 1816
The genus is closely related to the genus Helicoverpa and both genera can be only separated by the structure of the adult genitalia. The caterpillars often attack buds (budworms), flowers and developing fruits.
Note: The important polyphagous pest Heliothis virescens has been renamed Chloridea virescens.
