Umbravirus arachidis

Assigned virus:
groundnut rosette virus (GRV)

The groundnut rosette virus causes the important groundnut rosette disease, in combination with a satellite RNA and the 'groundnut rosette assistor virus'. GRV is widespread in Africa and is transmitted by Aphis craccivora. The leaves become progressively smaller, the internodes shorter and the stems thicker. Depending on the appearance of the leaves, the disease is described as chlorotic rosette (eastern Africa) or green rosette (western Africa).
