Glyptotendipes paripes (Edwards, 1929)

This non-biting midge is found in some lakes of Florida, U.S., that have certain types of sediments (Lobinske et al., 2007). In these lakes high midge populations develop and the adult midges emerge in large numbers. They can be a serious nuisance, causing allergies in some people, restricting outdoor activities, and soiling buildings or vehicles.
