Gesunde Pflanzen 52 (6), 183-187
Abstract: A three-year outdoor experiment (1996-1998) with three typical lupin cultivars ('Amiga' (white lupin), 'Kubesa' (blue lupin) and 'Borena' (yellow lupin)) was conducted to quantify the simulated competition with the late-emerging weed Chenopodium album. The cultivars differ in soil cover as well as in height, and weed growth reacted accordingly. Weed weight was lowest in cultivar Amiga which exhibits a roof-shaped and fairly high canopy. Weed growth was reduced by 45 % on average comparing 'Amiga' with 'Borena' (=100). 'Kubesa' ranked inbetween with a 14 % reduction in weed growth.
