Galeopsis tetrahit (weed) L. - (hemp-nettle)

This plant is native to Europe and temperate parts of western Asia. It has been introduced into North America and is found in northern parts of that continent. It is regarded as an important weed in several crops like cereals, potatoes or beet (e.g. see Légère et al., 2011). Cereal yields may be reduced by up to 20%.

G. tetrahit grows to a height of up to 1 m. The leaves are simple with serrated margins. The flowers are formed as dense clusters in the upper leaf axils and have a white or reddish colour.
