Frankliniella tritici (Fitch 1855) - (eastern flower thrips)
This thrips is found in North America and is common in eastern parts of the U.S. There are also reports from other countries like Japan. F. tritici is polyphagous and has been recorded from the flowers of various crops, For example, it is regarded as a pest of cotton, vegetables like tomatoes, soybean, or cereals. The feeding damage causes deformations of the fruits or loss of grains. Damage on the leaves of crops has been also reported.
