Polygraphus proximus Blandford, 1894 - (four-eyed fir bark beetle)
This bark beetle infests mainly fir trees (Abies). It is native to temperate regions of eastern Asia, but has spread westwards, invading western parts of Siberia and European Russia. The needles of infested trees turn yellow and during outbreaks in the invaded areas, the attacks can cause wide-spread tree mortality.
