Abstract: The mealybug Hypogeococcus pungens Granara de Willink (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is a new record for the Dominican Republic, based on specimens collected on 21 May 2010 from the ornamental plant Gomphrena globosa L. (Caryophyllales: Amaranthaceae), in Santo Domingo.
