Control of mole crickets in turf
Florida Entomologist 60 (2), 147-148
Abstract: Experiments were carried out to test the efficacy of 12 insecticidal baits, granules and sprays against mole crickets on turf in Florida, USA. Scapteriscus vicinus was the only species identified in the test area. Bait formulations generally caused significantly higher mortality than sprays and granules when applied in late August. The most effective emulsion was 0-[5-Chloro-l-(1-methyl-ethyl)-1H-1, 2,4-triazol-3-yl] 0, 0-diethyl phosphorothioate at 4 1b AI/acre. Malathion, chloropyrifos, propoxur and primifos ethyl as 2 % bait formulations gave excellent mortality rates. Carbofuran and 2,3-(isopropylidenedioxy) phenyl methyl-carbamate provided moderate mortality, but mortality from all chlordane formulations was insignificant.
