Persistence of radiophosphorus in desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera : Acrididae)
Florida Entomologist 57 (4), 393-395
Abstract: When adult female Schistocerca gregaria ingested 1 mCi of carrier free radiophosphorus (32P) through cabbage leaves, the radiophosphorus was detected in their eggs. The radioactivity persisted into the 4th and 5th instars of the first generation locusts. The biological half-life of radiophosphorus in locust larvae was 7.41 days.
