Ferrisia Fullaway, 1923
This genus of mealybugs contains around 20 species. They are native to the Americas, but some have been introduced into other regions. Several species are polyphagous and a number are regarded as agricultural pests and vectors of plant diseases. For example, the striped mealybug (Ferrisia virgata) is now widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions and a vector of the cacao swollen shoot virus in Africa.
