Euwallacea kuroshio Gomez and Hulcr, 2018 - (Kuroshio shot hole borer)
This species of ambrosia beetle is polyphagous and invasive. The native distribution includes Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan. It has also spread to parts of North and Central America (California and Mexico). The host plants are various tree species, among others Alnus, Quercus, Persea, Populus and Juglans. It belongs to the Euwallacea fornicatus species complex and can be distinguished from other species of this complex by its molecular DNA structure and the elytra being 1.50–1.82 mm long, the pronotum having a length of 1.08–1.16 mm, and the 8 to 11 socketed denticles in the protibiae.
