Eurytoma Illiger, 1807

This is a large and widely distributed genus of wasps with several hundred species. Many species are parasitoids, but others are regarded as crop pests. Still others start their development as parasitoids of a phytophagous species and later feed on plant tissue. This page deals with crop pests only. These are mainly seed feeders and some are economically important like the almond seed wasp (Eurytoma amygdali) which infests almonds in southern Europe, the Near East and western Asia.
