Paropsis Olivier, 1807 - (eucalyptus tortoise beetles)

This genus of tortoise beetles contains around 70 species and is found in Australia and New Zealand. The members feed and breed mainly on eucalypt trees and some species can occasionally defoliate trees, causing growth reductions.

The larvae often live gregariously. The adults are around 10 mm long and are typically marked with strong puncturations and a finely mottled colour pattern.
