Ericaceae - (heath family)

This family contains around 4,000 species of mostly woody and often evergreen shrubs, small trees and herbs. Several species are grown as crops (like blueberries) or as ornamentals. However, some are invasive and weedy. For example, pontic rhododendron (Rhododendron ponticum) and salal (Gaultheria shallon) are invasive and environmental weeds in some regions.
